Help for business owners in Cleburne and Johnson County

Why isn’t my business showing up on Google Maps?

If your business isn’t on the map, the customer never gets the chance to pick you. In Cleburne, and across Johnson County, that call goes to the business down the road, the one that is showing.

I can’t promise you’ll show up, and I won’t tell you one change puts you on top. Distance, the category, the listing and reviews all weigh in. What I can do is show you where a customer nearby actually sees you.

See it on a free map check

Send me your business name and your town. I’ll look you up the way a customer nearby would, then record a short video of your Google listing and where you show up on the map around town. That’s the free map check. How the check works. It’s emailed within 48 business hours. There’s no hard sell, and it doesn’t start any paid work.

What’s probably wrong

An unverified listing, or one Google has suspended. If nobody at the business controls it, you can’t keep it current. A suspended listing is off the map, and I can’t promise Google puts it back.

A category that doesn’t match the work you want calls for, or extras that water down the main one. The main category is one of the biggest things Google looks at. That part of the work is Google Business Profile setup and upkeep.

A service area that doesn’t match how you work. If you go to the customer, the address stays hidden and the listing names the towns you serve. If customers come to you, the address should show.

My own listing is a service-area business. I’m based in Cleburne, the street address is hidden, and the towns I serve are in Johnson County. See Vyntechs on Google Maps.

Distance from the person searching. Google builds the map around where they are standing. A business in Cleburne can show for someone close by and be missing for someone on the other side of Johnson County. Searching from your own counter hides that.

Few reviews. They count, and they aren’t the whole story. A thin list is easier for a customer to pass over. What a thin review list costs a business.

A name, phone, or website that doesn’t match your site and the other places that mention you. One word of difference makes Google a little less sure those listings are all the same business. I line those up under directory listings.

A thin website. If it doesn’t say what you do, or which towns you serve, a customer has less to read and Google has less to connect to the listing. I start with the site you already have. That’s service pages and town pages.

The check is made for your business, not a generic list of tips. The 81-point map check is where I show where you come up around town and who’s getting the call ahead of you. The short video is in your email within 48 business hours. It doesn’t promise a ranking, and it doesn’t start any paid work.
